Hello Brinda, I just heard your sweet speech that you gave. When you began talking the first thing that struck me was how sweet is your voice! And second how full of emotion was it when you were speaking...I thought you were about to cry but you didn't but I did...and my tears have not dried up.
What me cry? Well, a well known spiritual man, Ram Dass once said, "“Only that in you which is me can hear what I'm saying.”
And I HEARD it all...ALL OF IT. Connected with it from the beginning to the end. So, in some sense ALL of YOU is in me and I understood what you said from a very deep place.
And from this place of understanding, I cannot but cry...because it my story only that I have not taken the leap you have finally taken.
I am a 34 yr old woman from India, a software engg. by profession...2 yrs ago I was juggling a full time job with two children 4 & 1 and then Michael Jackson died. I knew even little about him...never heard his music...never seen his face (but somehow heard he made himself white!)...so when he died I thought another junkie superstar from the west succumbs to empty fame. But then one thing led to another...I was reading more and more about him...obviously all negative and for some reason I wanted to read something positive. I fell in love with him when I read his autobiography and then head over heels when I saw his 1993 interview with Oprah.
"“Only that in you which is me can hear what I'm saying.”
And I heard and understood all that he said and I failed to understand why people say they can never understand him!
Like you, my husband hoped that my obsession with MJ would wain but it did not...he is almost exasperated wondering, why I can't be a NORMAL person? My family tells me my children are being raised on an unhealthy dose of Michael Jackson.
For sometime, I have been dusting my-self for reaching out for my true purpose in life(although I don't know what it is yet) but your nectar like voice and your sincere feelings almost took the "chip off my shoulder". Thank you Brinda. I am going to order your book soon.
